Join Honeywell Product Manager, Bharat Naik, for a look at the next version of Honeywell’s process simulation software, UniSim® Design R492. This release continues Honeywell’s journey to enabling our customer’s journey towards Net Zero performance and included upgrades to key features including:

Sustainability:

  • Green H2: Addition of Alkaline Electrolyzer unit operation
  • CO2 capture: Capability to model Benfield and Selexol based flow schemes
  • CO2 emissions: Upgraded emission utility to include Classification of Scope 1 and 2 emissions

Upstream:

  • Addition of EO Diagnostics Improvements
  • Addition of EO Pipe Model Holdup
  • Addition of IAPWS 1997 steam package

Downstream / Refining Upgrades:

  • Update of parametric utility for ease of reactor tuning
  • Enhancement to tray sizing utility with UOP’s calculation methods
  • Update to distillation column hydraulic correlations
  • Addition of column analysis plots for valve and bubble cap trays and packed column sections

GUI Refresh and New Controls:

  • Update of ribbon bar and palette

Thermodynamics:

  • Validation of CPA package for dehydration modeling which is primarily used in gas processing
  • CPA Upgrade including addition of new interaction parameters and speed increase
  • Addition of COSMO-SAC Property Package, VTPR Equation of State Property Package and UNIFAC (DMD) Activity Property Packages

Bharat Naik
Product Manager
Speaker Bio: Mr Naik has 31 years experience in the process industry serving various roles in operations, engineering, consultancy, marketing and program/project management. Currently, Bharat is the Product Manager for the UniSim Design software and he manages Connected Services alliances. He gathers customer requirements, directs development teams, manages product lines, manages partner interfaces and sets strategy for connected services for the process industry. Previously, he has served as product line director for consulting services in energy efficiency, GHG management, capital allocation and process safety management. He brings business knowledge to technical issues and helps solve pressing customer issues in a cost-effective manner. He believes in listening closely to customer problems and translating them into offerings to be developed by internal teams.

Speaker Bio: Jagdish Rachh is the Technical Solutions Consultant for UniSim Design Suite covering Asia & Pacific regions. He joined Honeywell in 2009 and has been working in various roles with hands-on experience using UniSim Design. He has 22 years of total work experience in the area of Process Simulation, Plant Operations, Industrial Research & Development, and Process Design. Jagdish has a Master’s in Petrochemical Engineering from M.S University, India.

James Martin
Global Support Team Leader

Speaker Bio: James Martin is currently the Team Leader of the UniSim Design Suite Global Support Team. He has 22 years of experience using, supporting and providing training for first HYSYS and then UniSim Design. James started work in the support team at Hyprotech in 2000 and transitioned to Aspentech before moving to Honeywell in 2005 and taking the EMEA Team Leader role in 2010 and then the Global Team Leader role in 2017 as the support team in Honeywell expanded. James has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University.
